Tahoe Heritage Foundation is welcoming the community to experience a new vision for the South Lake Tahoe’s ‘Old Tahoe’ summer estates.  The Tallac Museum and Holiday Gift Shop will celebrate the coming of winter with a special Winter Wanderland weekend!  The historic site Museum and Holiday Gift Shop will remain open during this magical time with special Holiday touches throughout the historic estates and along the walk/bike path. A Forest of Lights will be featured, inspired holiday shopping in our Gift Shop. Entertainment will bring to life the sounds of the Holidays. This NEW Holiday tradition offers something for everyone!

Wander and explore the historic site and lakeshore.  We are certain that you’ll enjoy the magic of this time of the year as we wait for the snow to fly!

Featured at the venue is special programming for the whole family, but especially the young at heart!

  • Cozy up to a roaring fire
  • Hot Chocolate, Coffee & Cider Bar
  • Visit the working Blacksmith Shop ( Saturday Only!)
  • Jump on the Tallac Holiday Trolley to visit both holiday shopping venues
  • Carolers and sing-a-longs
  • Forest of Lights and holiday decor throughout the historic estates
  • And more!

Proceeds from Winter Wanderland at Tallac Historic Site support Tahoe Heritage’s  mission, from the care of the historic Pope-Baldwin homes and outbuildings, Boathouse, grounds and gardens, exhibits, Shoreline Trail & Promenade , to the events and programs that will keep the historic site culturally relevant for the next 100 years. Thank you!

We are so excited to offer Winter Wanderland at Tallac, a new tradition which allows Tahoe Heritage Foundation, to extend our season through a new Holiday experience. Winter Wanderland, while respectful of the historic perspective, is not specifically historic in nature meaning that the summer estates were typically closed for the winter. We invite you to join us as we move forward with this exciting new tradition and give the Pope-Baldwin Estates, Tallac Historic Site a new way to connect to the Tahoe community and visitors alike. – Jude Markward, Director of Operations
